Firing in Memphis

On Monday, the Memphis Grizzlies fired Coach David Fizdale, one day after losing their eighth game in a row. In a statement on Tuesday, Fizdale thanked the Grizzlies organization and gave his appreciation for the staff and the coaches. The eight-game losing streak was not the only reason for the firing. Reports came out that Fizdale and all star center Marc Gasol have not been on talking terms for over a year. With other teams struggling and coaches moving onto the hot seat, Fizdale should be back coaching in the NBA before the end of the season.

Cleveland Win Streak

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently the hottest team in the NBA, as they are on a nine-game winning streak and returning to their old selves. Lebron James is returning to MVP form and leading the team in points through the win streak. With Isaiah Thomas expected to be back in December, look for the Cavs to be back at the top of the Eastern Conference in no time.

Oklahoma City Struggling

The Oklahoma City Thunder has lost five of their last six games with the only win being against the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. Many people expected that win to be turning point in the team’s season, but it is looking like the win was a fluke. After they defeated the Warriors, the Thunder lost to the Detroit Pistons, the last place Dallas Mavericks and the struggling Orlando Magic. If the team continues to struggle, something is bound to change, whether it is a coach being fired, or even a trade to shake things up.

Houston is Hot

The Houston Rockets have won 12 out of their last 13 games and are in first place in the competitive Western Conference. James Harden seems to be on a mission to win the MVP trophy, after losing it to Russell Westbrook in the 2016-2017 season. With Chris Paul’s return to the team, they are showing no signs of slowing down. Role players like Clint Capela and P.J. Tucker are contributing as well, making the Rockets look like the favorites to win the Western Conference.

First Time Ejections

Stars Anthony Davis and Lebron James each earned their first ejections this week. It was about time James got a technical, since he has been yelling and making bad gestures towards referees since his rookie year. Most people are defending the king, but I am not one of those people; he got what he deserved, and he needs to move on. Anthony Davis’s ejection was a surprise, because of his lowkey demeanor that he has had throughout his career.
