The Panthers are officially off to a roaring start this season, claiming back-to-back wins after defeating the North Forney Falcons 34-21 on Friday night. This victory not only propels the Panthers to a 2-0 record but also continues their dominance at home, where they’ve now extended their streak to six straight victories dating back to last season.
The win was powered by standout performances yet again from quarterback Jackson Hays and running back Travis Agee. Hays was nothing short of impressive, punishing the North Forney defense with 302 passing yards and three touchdowns while averaging an electric 13.7 yards per attempt. Agee, meanwhile, was a force on the ground. He bulldozed his way to 191 rushing yards on just 25 carries, averaging 7.6 yards per run, and setting a new personal best in total yardage.
Wide receiver Kareem Pittman was Hays’ favorite target on the night, hauling in 66 receiving yards and a touchdown. He also made his presence felt on the ground, driving in a rushing score to further extend the Panthers’ lead.
The Panthers’ offensive unit was unstoppable, racking up a staggering 539 total yards. They consistently found ways to move the ball. North Forney, by comparison, could only muster 382 yards of offense, struggling to keep pace with the Panthers’ high-intensity attack.
It wasn’t just the offense that shined. The Panthers’ defense ran circles around the Falcons, forcing four crucial fumbles that kept the momentum firmly on the Panthers’ side. Marvae Butts, Judah Thompson, and Corbin Ahman were each responsible for recovering a fumble, with Thompson’s performance particularly notable as he continued his streak of dominance with seven or more tackles in each of his last three games, dating back to last season. Thompson was also named the MaxPreps player of the game.
While North Forney lacked cohesion, they did get a nice showing from their star player, Legend Bey. Bey rushed for 184 yards and all three of North Forney’s touchdowns, averaging an eye-popping 10.8 yards per carry. He also added 119 passing yards, completing nine of 23 attempts. Despite Bey’s “Legend-ary” efforts, it wasn’t enough to overcome a well-rounded Panther squad.
As the Panthers celebrate their 2-0 start, all eyes turn to next week’s matchup against Princeton. Both teams are coming off high-scoring affairs, and the stage is set for another exciting contest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Forney, now 0-2, will look to rebound against Mesquite, hoping to notch their first win of the season.
For the Panthers, the momentum is undeniable, and with performances like this, they look primed and ready to keep their winning streak alive.
