The Super Bowl results are officially in. The score was 40-22, in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles over the Kansas City Chiefs. This Super Bowl had some amazing plays, a halftime show to remember, and a record that was broken.
Going into the Super Bowl, both sides had something to prove. The Kansas City Chiefs came in hoping to get their third Super Bowl win in a row, something no other team has done before. The Philadelphia Eagles came in wanting revenge for their loss in 2023 while also trying to achieve an unofficial record for their running back Saquon Barkley. The Philadelphia Eagles ended up showing up to play. Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts went 17-22, 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense also came to play with six sacks on quarterback Patrick Mahomes and two interceptions. Barkley broke an unofficial record during the Super Bowl as well. He broke the record for most rushing yards with the regular season and post-season combined. Barkley had 2,504 yards throughout the whole year, a great accomplishment for any running back. The Kansas City Chiefs went home with a disappointing loss and performance. Patrick Mahomes himself went 21-37, for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. For most of the game, Mahomes was continuously three and out because his O-line was continuously overwhelmed by the Eagles’s defense. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy did everything he could for the Chiefs though; he received 157 yards between just eight receptions and got two touchdowns — an impressive performance.
